EKF was founded in 1972. In the late 70's,
the company was developing standardized
microcomputer components and accessory
software as a replacement for conventional process control technology.
As an independent systems manufacturer, EKF
concentrated, from the very beginning, on
complete solutions for industrial problems
by using the latest in technology, with a focus
on high reliability and long-term availability of all products.
In the beginning of the 80's the company expanded,
thanks mainly to its innovative products based on EUROBUS,
at this time the leading bus standard for Motorola CPUs.
Since 1985 EKF supplies products for the
VMEbus,
likely the most accepted standard of the 90's for
industrial modular computer systems.
In 1998, EKF started development and manufacture of
CompactPCI®
boards and systems as an economical alternative, based on
Intel® low power (mobile) processors.
Since then, CPCI modules
turned out to be todays best choice for new modular designs.
In addition, EKF is currently developing solutions for new standards
such as CompactPCI® Express and AMC (µTCA™)
CPU cards, and COM Express™ modules
(COM = Computer on Module), incorporating the PCI Express and other
high speed technolgy.
Further more, custom specific boards and systems
are a growing part of EKF's extended product portfolio, including
ruggedized solutions for
the industrial temperature range and harsh environment.
One example of such a turnkey solution is
iAFIS,
an efficiency information system
introduced widely in the container glass industry all over the world,
and hourly proving its quality under
the most rugged of environments.
EKF maintains a certified quality management system
according to ISO 9000 with respect to both,
development and manufacturing (ISO 9001 & ISO 9002).
